Effect of Brown rice on Oxidative diseases (Diabetes, Atherosclerosis and Cancer)
Oxidative stress is harmful for human body because oxygen free radicals attack biological molecules such as lipids, proteins, and DNA. The close association between oxidative stress and lifestyle related diseases has become well known. Brown rice have high antioxidant potentials as a result of its bioactive compounds, reports of their effects on oxidative stress-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis and cancer are lacking. Brown rice is good for controlling of different types of oxidative diseases because it is good source of fibre, antioxidant, some vitamins and minerals. Brown rice also acts as an anti-diabetic food, because it is good source of fibre and it has low glycemic index. The brown fibrous outer layer of the brown rice is rich in oligosaccharides and dietary fibers, making it particularly nutritious, so it is also helpful for controlling atherosclerosis. The chemo preventive properties of brown rice validated that its bran contains essential phenols such as tricin, ferulic acid, and caffeic acid that also helpful for controlling cancer.
