Analysing the impact of using Pseudomonas veronii in improving the quality of sewage contaminated water
An attempt was made to evaluate the effectiveness of Pseudomonas veronii in improving the quality of sewage contaminated water. Certain parameters for the assessment of quality of sewage water collected from common drains were considered, including BOD, sulphides, phosphates, ammonia and total dissolved solids (TDS). Parameters were tested before, during and after the application of Pseudomonas veronii. A comparison amongst three stages of testing was of great help in assessing the bioremedial impact of this species of Pseudomonas. The results of the study indicate that Pseudomonas veronii not only reduced the BOD of the contaminated water, but also drastically reduced the ammonia and sulphides contents present in the contaminated water. The results establish that P. veronii is a potent species for an effective bioremediation of sewage contaminated water.
